WHAT IS MATCHA?
Matcha is a type of green tea made by taking young tea leaves and grinding them into a bright green powder. The powder is then whisked with hot water. This is different from regular green tea, where the leaves are infused in water, then removed.
BENEFITS OF MATCHA:
1. Unlike coffee, matcha contains #phytonutrients that allow the body to absorb the caffeine at a slower pace. This results in 6-8 hours of sustained energy where as coffee gives you a very short-lived bursts of energy of 1-3 hours. Plus, matcha doesn't give the side effects of jitteriness or anxiety and caffeine crash later in the day.
2. High number in antioxidants. Matcha is rich in catechins, a class of plant compounds in tea that act as natural antioxidants to help fight those free radicals in your body.
3. Matcha has been shown to improve attention, memory, and reaction time. It also contains caffeine and L-theanine, which can improve several aspects of brain function including reducing stress and increasing GOOD MOOD.
4. Matcha naturally detoxes your body! You probably know that chlorophyll is a natural molecule found in plants. Chlorophyll gives plants that lovely green color, and is used to convert energy from the sun into the fuel plants need to flourish and create the nutrients we need. Matcha green tea has high levels of chlorophyll, which may not directly flush toxins, heavy metals, and chemicals from your body, but it’s one of nature’s best indicators for the high concentrations of the key compounds that do.
